Giving Back Has Always Been Important In My Life

This time of year I always get excited because it means it is time for the Audi Best Buddies Challenge in Washington DC.  This year I am going equipped with a team of super stars in their own right.  There is no greater joy in my life to be able to give back along with good friends to an organization that I have known since it was  just an idea that Anthony Kennedy Shriver had 21 years ago.  Anthony and I have been friends for years and I have always been a stalwart supporter of this cause.

Over the years there have always been great stories to come home and tell my family.  Stories like when Carl Lewis was singing while I accompanied him on the piano, which by the way, neither of us were very good at it.  Or, driving around with Joan Cusack and confessing that I was the woman that showed up in the middle of the night at the house she was sharing with her brother John while he was filming the movie “Say Anything”  And then there was the time I decided to take on Greg Lemond, after a fun late night of events, and then thinking I could keep up with the Tour DeFrance star in cycling.

There are so many incredible celebrities that give their time to Best Buddies, such as Rob Lowe, Tom Brady, Cindy Crawford, Nancy O’Dell, Penelope Ann Miller and more.

This year will be no exception, the stars will be out in numbers, I particularly can’t wait to meet Lauren Potter, the star from Glee.

The energy is there, the enthusiasm is there, but the training let’s just say I am not sure ballroom dancing qualifies for the proper training for this event.  I hope my teammates aren’t subscribing to that plan. We will see in D.C.

If you want to support my team, go to my Best Buddies Page and donate to a great cause.
